We just returned yesterday from our two weeks away for the holidays. I am exhausted.
Our Christmas festivities actually began the weekend before Christmas. My parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle and my sister all ca
me to our house to celebrate an early Christmas. We did presents after the boys got up from their naps and enjoyed a delicious dinner together. My grandparents spend their
winters in Florida. They were going to leave before Christmas this year. It was really nice to all be together before they left.
Dylan got a Catipiller train. He was soooo excited he wouldn't even look up at the camera!
We spent a week and 2 days in Maine for Christmas. We actually had to stay an extra day because of a snow storm in NH and Mass.
When we arrived in Maine they had
just had a huge snow storm (20+ inches).
The boys had so much fun playing in the snow, especially the huge snow banks.
We had a nice Christmas with my mother in law and sister in law. Dylan really got into Christmas this year. He was so excited and insisted on "helping" everyone open their presents.
Steve's grandfather and uncle joined us for Christmas dinner. That evening we watched Christmas movies and at the yummy apple pie my mother in law had made.
Steve and I enjoyed our day in Freeport. It ended up being a pretty dreary, rainy day but we still had fun. We left the boys with my mother in law for the day. My sister in law, Sarah, also helped watch the boys. We came home to a giant snow tunnel that they had made that morning. The boys had so much fun crawling through it. PA never gets enough snow to make a really fun snow tunnel.
We were able to have Christmas a few days later with my father in law at his new house. He had gotten a train for the boys to play with while they visit at the house. They loved playing with that train.
We left Maine on Thursday and drove to Endicott, NY to visit Steve's Aunt and Uncle and visit with his cousins Matt and his family and Emily who were there for the holidays. Matt's girls are close in age to the boys.
From there we drove to my parents house which was only about an hour away. We enjoyed our visit with my parents too. They only had a little snow but the boys still had fun playing outside. The boys loved playing with the cats and Ethan was very interested in the sheep. We took the kids out on the pond. The ice was pretty thick. Dylan was amazed that we could walk on the pond. There were spots were the snow had melted and the ice was very slippery. Dylan was insistant on walking on those spots. It was funny to watch him (although I didn't go too far because I was also nervous about him falling).
So now it is back to the unpacking. Thank you families for a wonderful Christmas. We miss you already (the kids are going through grandparent and auntie withdrawl) :)
